Biography

Rachel hails from BC’s coastline, which is where her passion for biodiversity and the outdoors began. She graduated from the University of Victoria in 2000, and has been working as a wildlife field biologist on multiple projects across the globe. From elephants, grizzlies and seabirds; her passion for researching wildlife and protecting the ecosystems they need for survival continues to grow. Rachel currently resides in Golden, BC, and is a Master of Science in Environment and Management candidate at Royal Roads University. She is the Program Manager for Wildsight’s Columbia Headwaters program and spearheads the Rivers at Risk Campaign, as well as the Columbia Headwaters Invasive Plant Species Program. She also works on community-based issues such as pesticide reduction, riparian restoration, water stewardship and environmentally-responsible backcountry recreation.
