JOB TITLE : ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAM ASSISTANT (2011)
START DATE: Mid May
END DATE: Late August
Hours- Full Time, 14 weeks @ 40 hr/week, some weekend an evening work
Location- based out of Wildsight office in Kimberley
Qualifications-
Minimum of one year of post secondary education with a strong interest
in the environment. Experience in gardening, landscaping and or native
plants an asset. Must have been a full time student this year and
retuning to a full time program in September 2011 and under the age of
30.
Job Description
- Assist with landscaping and planting of drought tolerant ground covers and native plants in new demonstation area
- Assist in planting and maintenance of Marysville Falls Eco Park and other riparian restoration sites.
- Assist with coordination & supervision of hands-on restoration field trip programs for elementary classes and community groups.
- Assist with planning and coordination of rain barrell citizen science research project.
- Assist with planning and coordination of greenscaping networking project in Cranbrook & Kimberley.
- Assist with invasive plant mapping and management.
- Assist with other Wildsight Kimberley Cranbrokk programming and in office with administrative duties.
The
Successful Candidate will have a strong interest in the environment,
enjoy interacting with the public, have good communication and computer
skills, be physically fit, enjoy gardening and landscape work and be
able to work independently.
