Ryland Nelson

Southern Rockies Program Coordinator

Ryland has worked as program assistant to the Flathead and Southern Rockies program since 2007. Recently he represented the 12 organizations that petitioned the UNESCO World Heritage Committee to review the potential threats of mining in the Flathead to the Waterton-Glacier World Heritage Site at their annual meeting in Spain. The resulting report recommended that mining not proceed in the Flathead. Shortly afterward British Columbia announced that they would not allow mining in the Flathead. He was born and raised in Fernie, BC, and is a well-connected member of the community. Ryland has a background in marketing and communications and specialises in e-marketing and helps build capacity in Wildsight’s online presence.
