Darcy Monchak
It’s been a few decades now since Darcy spent half his net worth purchasing topographic maps of the upper Columbia area. The intrigue that those maps created - of what is out there - is still at hand. He has worked during that time out of Golden as a professional forester, involved with planning for environmental, recreational and timber forest values. Most recently, he has chaired the Golden Backcountry Recreational Advisory Committee, located forests for old growth designation, and negotiated agreements regarding snowmobiling and caribou habitat. Darcy contends that a strong public voice needs to be re-established in B.C. for the protection, conservation, and management of crown land.
Darcy currently operates a nature photography and graphic art business from his home near the Columbia River Wetlands.
