A tough cleanup day at Dead Dog Bluff
Not dissuaded by cool and wet weather, 39 volunteers turned up at the Wilmer Community Hall on the morning of April 24 to receive details of their various assignments for a major clean-up day in the Wilmer Wetlands from project leader, Pat Morrow.
Teams of participants fanned out along the beach at the foot of the bluff, adjacent coves and a bench-land area above the Westside Road to begin the grimy and difficult work. The key goal was to extricate over 175 discarded tires from the water and adjacent beach and move them to an area above the lower pathway… a future phase of the project will focus on the complete removal of this material from the area.
