Power in the local diet

The Cranbrook Food Action Committee received a
boost of funds recently, which allowed them to update the local food
guide and deliver food preservation workshops. Shannon Grey Duncan, project co-ordinator for
the Harvest Connection Project, said the funds contributed by Interior
Health were matched by the Epicure Foundation. With them, they were able
to produce the third edition of the East Kootenay Local Food Guide and
host the workshops. Grey Duncan said it's important for people to learn
that they can eat locally year round. "The main thing is the empowerment of knowing
where your food is coming from," she said.
