Niedermayer on Nature

Regional environmental group Wildsight
hosted "Wild About Town," an Earth Day celebration Saturday, April 21,
at Rotary Park in Cranbrook, a festival under sunny skies featuring
food, live music, activities and displays and demonstrations. The
celebration continued later that evening with "Uptown Goes Wild," a gala
event at the Royal Alexandra Hall.

Prominent
at both was Scott Niedermayer, former NHL hockey player and popular
hometown son, who has lent his support to such Wildsight campaigns as
Jumbo Wild.

Niedermayer was
busy signing autographs Saturday afternoon, but he took time to
elaborate on his involvement with environmental groups and issues. He
explained that his passion for the Kootenays comes from the heart, that
the region is a part of his background.
