Elk River rises on danger list

From the Free Press:

Increasing selenium levels from mining have landed the Elk River in the top ten of a list of the province’s most endangered rivers for 2010.

The river has moved from 11th place last year to eighth place in the Outdoor Recreation Council’s 2010 B.C. Endangered Rivers List.

It blames development, increasing selenium levels and wildlife migration issues for the river’s rise up the list.
