World Class Athletes Inspire Youth to Get Active for the Environment
Clean Air Champions in collaboration with our local partner Wildsight invite you to attend presentations by two Clean Air Champions from this area:
Olympic Gold Medallist and Cranbrook native Ben Rutledge, who was part of Canada’s gold medal winning eight-man rowing team last summer in Beijing, and,
Olympic Bronze Medallist and Invermere resident Christine Keshen, who represented Canada on the women’s curling team in Turin, Italy.
Ben and Christine will be delivering a multi-media presentation to local Grade 6 and 7 students as part of Clean Air Champions’ curriculum program called HSBC/Clean Air Achievers (www.cleanairachievers.ca).
Their message focuses on the many joys and benefits of a high performance sport career while integrating timely environmental messages on the impacts of air pollution on our health, environment and climate. Particular focus is placed on encouraging youth (and adults) to adopt more active lifestyles via active transportation and making healthier lifestyle choices that reduce personal greenhouse gas emissions and improve fitness.
The mission of Clean Air Champions is to work with respected athletes to improve air quality by motivating and educating Canadians to adopt practices and lifestyles that enhance both environmental and personal health. CAC is a national, registered charity with over 140 athlete members and is managed by staff and a working board of directors. For more information please visit: www.cleanairchampions.ca
