·Core funding for program and $250 per rebate comes from the British Columbia Ministry of Environment, with municipalities and RDEK providing ‘top up’ funding for rebates to residents.  Additional program funds have been provided by the Columbia Basin Trust
·Most municipalities are waiving the building permit fees for participants in this program
·Participating retailers will offer up to $150 additional discounts in March and April ONLY.
·‘Maximize Efficiency and Minimize Emissions’ by upgrading your appliance
·Older, uncertified wood stoves can produce  more than 70% more smoke or particulate matter and use 1/3 more wood than the new appliances
·consider replacing your wood stove  if it is 15 or more years old, as it most likely does not have a secondary burn system to re-burn much of the smoke before it leaves the stove
·wood burning releases harmful pollutants into the air we breathe, especially when using inefficient appliances/poor fuel or burning techniques, so ‘Get Certified!’
