JOB TITLE : ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAM ASSISTANT (2008)

START DATE: Mid May

END DATE: Late August

Hours- Full Time, 14 weeks @ 40 hr/week

Wages- $10 - $14 hr depending on qualifications and experience

Qualifications- Minimum of one year of post secondary education with a strong interest in the environment. Experience in gardening, landscaping and or native plants an asset. Must have been a full time student in 2007 and retuning to a full time program in September 2007 and must be under the age of 30.

Job Description

  • Assist with Wildsight’s Kimberley Pesticide Reduction Initiative. Create materials, man display at Kimberley Fairs and events, raise awareness of healthy alternatives to pesticides, write press releases for local media and update website.
  • Maintain and Improve Marysville falls Eco Park – Plant & maintain native vegetation, and maintain drip irrigation system, weed,, assisting with the supervision of Kimberley Elementary classes' hands on field trips to the Marysville Falls Eco Park.
  • Assist Mark Creek Recovery Program coordinator in community events, water quality monitoring, noxious weed mapping and control
  • Assist in office with Wildsight Kimberley Cranbrook administrative duties.

The Successful Candidate will have a strong interest in the environment, enjoy interacting with the public, have good communication skills, be physically fit, enjoy gardening and landscape work and be able to work independently.
