Forest Stewardship

Wildsight is creating a precedent-setting model for Forest Stewardship Council certification in British Columbia. The Forest Stewardship Council provides the only independent certification recognized worldwide in both the marketplace and by the environmental community.

We are significantly increasing the area of protected landscapes and raising the standard for forest practices in a manner that will influence management and market behaviour throughout the province. Wildsight was successful in protecting over 50,000 ha of endangered forest in the first certification of a major forest licensee in British Columbia. We have now moved forward and negotiated logging moratoriums on over a hundred thousand hectares of High Conservation Value Forests in anticipation of completing full assessments.
