On the evening of February 22 and all day February 23, a diverse group of individuals will be meeting to discuss the health and the wellbeing of the wild huckleberry.

Huckleberries are an integral part of this region's forests, providing an important food source for wildlife, especially bears, and for local humans. This workshop will bring together a diverse group of researchers to present on huckleberry ecology, ecological restoration (including prescribed fire), wildlife use of berry resources, historical uses of huckleberries and local knowledge of huckleberry ecology.

The conference will open on the evening of February 22nd with a keynote presentation on traditional uses and management of wild berry species by First Nations in British Columbia, by Dr. Nancy Turner, world famous ethnobotanist.
