Elk Valley Branch members continue to closely monitor coalbed methane activities. The Mist Mountain project in the Crows Nest Pass Coalfields which includes all of the area between Fernie and the Alberta border and from north of Sparwood to the edge of the Flathead Valley, and the Stormcat project north of Elkford. High gas prices will continue to stimulate CBM activity, which has devastated lesser landscapes in Alberta, Wyoming and elsewhere. We continue to press for a comprehensive environmental, social and economic impact study for the entire region before any development takes place. For more information visit www.ekcbm.org.
