Wildsight won a prestigious Real Estate Foundation of B.C.

Fortis BC Community Leadership Award - Monica Nissen

Education in the Wild Program Co-ordinator won the Fortis BC Community Leadership Award in 2010.

National Best Practices Example - Lake Windermere Project

The Lake Windermere Project was recognized as a national best practices example in community based ecological monitoring by the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (2010).

BC LiveSmart Community Hero Award - Heather Leschied

Heather Leschied won the BC LiveSmart Community Hero Award for the Lake Windermere Project (2008)

Canadian Cancer Society Kootenay Region Community Champion Awards

Kim/Cran Branch won in 2007-2008 and Program Managers Heather Leschied and Rachel Darvill  won for 2008-2009 in the recognition of excellence to further the mission and vision of the Canadian Cancer Society for their work in the Pesticide Free movement.

 

Woman of the Earth Award - Ellen Zimmerman

In March 2006, Wildsight Program Manager Ellen Zimmerman received the Yves Rocher International Foundation Terre de Femmes (Woman of the Earth) award in Paris for her environmental work in Canada.

 

Certificates of Merit from BC Environment

Four wildsight members were awarded Certificates of Merit for their participation in the CORE process in 1994.

BC Hydro Community Heroes

Wildsight Program Managers Megan Lohmann and Dawn Deydey won the 2010 BC Hydro Community Heroes award for their work on the Beyond Recycling education program.  They were nominated by one of the classes they worked with in Fernie.

Educator Ali Burton was presented with the award her work in Cranbrook.

B.C Principals’ and Vice Principals’ Association Partnership Award

Wildsight Golden Branch President Joan Dolinsky won the B.C Principals’ and Vice Principals’ Association Partnership Award in 2007 for her environmental education work in the local schools on behalf of Wildsight.

Wilburforce Foundation award for Outstanding Conservation Leadership

Wildsight Executive Director, John Bergenske received the Wilburforce Foundation award for Outstanding Conservation Leadership.

2005 Canadian Environmental Award for Conservation

In 2005 Wildsight was recognized by the Canadian federal government and received the 2005 Canadian Environmental Award for Conservation in recognition of its successful work to protect the region’s wildlife and wildland values.
